Handmade soap is often described as more gentle, more nourishing, and more thoughtful. But what actually makes it different?
A slower process
Most handmade soaps are created using the cold process method. This means the ingredients are carefully combined and then left to cure over several weeks.
Time becomes part of the process — allowing the soap to develop its final texture and character.

Naturally retained glycerin
During the soapmaking process, glycerin is formed naturally. In handmade soap, it is left within the bar.
Glycerin helps attract and retain moisture, contributing to a softer, more comfortable feel on the skin.
Simple, recognisable ingredients
Handmade soap is typically made with plant oils and butters such as olive oil, coconut oil and shea butter.
The focus is on fewer, carefully chosen ingredients.
Each bar is unique
Because each batch is made by hand and cut individually, no two bars are exactly the same.
These small variations are part of the process — and part of what makes handmade soap feel personal
